An Urbana woman was injured and cited in a two-vehicle accident that also injured a Shorewood man in Seward Twp. near Plattville on Thursday.
According to the Illinois State Police, officers were dispatched to the intersection of Rt. 52 and Grove Rd. at around 3:49 p.m.
Officers found that 27-year-old Celia Mueller of Urbana was headed northbound on Grove Rd. when she failed to yield at a stop intersection and pulled out in front of a vehicle headed west on Rt. 52 being driven by 67-year-old Frank Tervich of Shorewood.
Tervich struck the passenger side of Mueller's vehicle.
ISP officials say that a helicopter was called out to the scene, but did not arrive for an unknown reason.
Both Mueller and Tervich were transported to St. Joseph's Medical Center in Joliet for what officials say were serious, but ultimately non-life threatening injuries.
Mueller was cited in the accident for having No Insurance, Disobeying a Stop Sign and Failure to Yield at a Stop Intersection.
