A driver just south of Maple Park in DeKalb County had a scary moment on Thursday after crashing into a power pole where power lines fell on her vehicle.
The DeKalb County Sheriff's Office reports that 58 year-old Joanne Lewandowski of Sebring Cir. in Elgin was injured in a single-vehicle accident at Route 38 and East County Line Rd. The crash happened around 1:09 a.m.
According to a report, deputies learned that Lewandowski went off of the roadway and struck a utility pole, causing the wires to fall on the vehicle.
Utility workers arrived on scene and turned off the power to the lines. The lines were then able to be removed from the area of the vehicle.
Lewandowski was transported to Kishwaukee Hospital by Maple Park EMS for treatment of minor injuries.
Lewandowski was cited for Driving Too Fast for Conditions and Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle.
