WSPY and Nelson Multimedia Incorporated radio stations were well decorated at Thursday night's Illinois Broadcasters Association "Silver Dome" Awards in Springfield.
Nelson Multimedia Incorporated stations took home seven first-place IBA "Silver Dome" awards for our coverage of Fox Valley news and for community service.
Our sister station WCSJ in Morris was also named small-market "Station of the Year" for their coverage of local events and community happenings.
For the WSPY News team, WSPY News Director Tyler Bachman was awarded two "Silver Dome" awards for "Best Radio News Reporter" and for "Best Radio Light Feature" in medium-market news.
WSPY Reporter Jim Wyman earned a first-place award for "Best Radio Hard News Story" and WSPY Reporter Kathryn Bloch was awarded first-place for a submitted newscast.
The IBA additionally honored WSPY with a Community Service Award for our station's Summer Lunchbox Food Drive.
WSPY Reporter Mark Harrington, WSPY Sports Director Jim Teckenbrock and our sister station WLBK in DeKalb all had nominations and received recognition as did WCSJ News Director Justin Ritz, who took home a first-place award for "Best Radio News Reporter" in small-market radio.
The award ceremony was held in conjunction with stations throughout the State of Illinois at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Springfield.
