The Yorkville CUSD 115 Board of Education approved the hiring of a new principal and assistant principal at their meeting on Monday night.
Shannon Hamm will serve as principal at Circle Center Grade School; her contract with the district begins on Jul. 1.
District 115 Supt. Timothy Shimp says Hamm "has extensive experience in elementary education as both a teacher and an administrator."
During her career, Hamm has served as a teacher, co-principal at Saratoga CUSD 60C in Morris, and an assistant principal at Troy CCSD 30-C in Shorewood.
Hamm holds a bachelor's degree in elementary education and special education from Lewis University and a master's degree in teaching and leadership from Saint Xavier University.
Hamm's first official day at Circle Center Grade School will be Aug. 1; she will assume the position from Gina Isabelli, who has been principal at the school since 2015.
In addition to hiring Hamm the board also approved the transfer of Martha Venetucci, current Yorkville Middle School dean, to the assistant principal position at Bristol Bay Elementary School.
Venetucci has worked in District 115 since 2007; she is assuming the assistant principal role from Zac Craft, who was recently hired as a principal in Downers Grove Elementary School District 58.
