Yorkville Police say another accident has occurred at the intersection of Route 47 and Galena Rd. -- this one where a driver allegedly attempted to back up to make room for a turning semi.

Police say the accident occurred around 11:08 a.m. on Wednesday morning.

A 65 year-old Paw Paw woman allegedly improperly backed into a vehicle being driven by a 40 year-old Yorkville man.

The woman backed up to make room for a semi attempting to turn onto Galena Rd. from Route 47.

The Yorkville intersection has been the site of several accidents with two reported in October. The city of Yorkville has advocated to the Illinois Department of Transportation to help finance intersection improvements at the intersection and an eventual widening of Route 47 toward Sugar Grove.

Interim improvements at the intersection were made earlier this year, which included striping on eastbound Galena Rd. where semi drivers turning west have an especially tight turn.

A 32 year-old Yorkville woman and a juvenile passenger in the Yorkville man's car were not injured, nor was the Paw Paw woman.

No citations were issued.
