One person was killed in an accident on Interstate 80 shortly after ten in the morning on Wednesday.
The Illinois State Police District 17 out of LaSalle said a vehicle driven by 84-year-old Robert Bowen, of Macomb, was westbound in the left lane of Interstate 80 in Bureau County when he hit a 47-year-old highway worker from Chicago.
Police officials say the victim was assisting with traffic control in the maintenance zone near milepost 44.
Bowen was cited for failure to yield the right-of-way to any authorized vehicle or pedestrian working within a highway construction or maintenance zone. The incident remains under investigation.
