A manhunt for a fugitive with an Indiana arrest warrant is underway in Lee County after a chase that injured a sheriff's deputy Friday. The Lee County Sheriff's Office says that a chase for 34-year-old Donald E. Powell started in Rock Falls and ended with Powell hitting a Lee County squad car and then fleeing on foot. The deputy in the car was not seriously hurt, but was taken to a local hospital.
An exhaustive search of the area where Powell was last seen, in the area of Progress Drive and Dutch Road in Dixon, has not been successful. Anyone who sees Powell is asked to call 911 and not approach him. He is considered armed and dangerous.
Powell is described as black with long dreadlocks and was last seen wearing a black hoodie with pink writing.
