viaPhoton CEO Baber Abbas expects the new fiber optics factory in Aurora to be in full production by September. Abbas says not much education is required for some jobs there.

For some other careers, a degree is required.

viaPhoton is set to hire around thirty people for the factory initially, but expects to hire more in the next few years.

Abbas says it's important to have manufacturing in the United States. He thinks that's especially true in times global crisis when supply chains are disrupted or there are shortages on certain items.

Upgrading the online infrastructure with fiber optics across the state has been a goal of Gov. J.B. Pritzker.
