Aurora Christian 250x250

The Aurora Christian boys baseball team has advanced to the Class 2A Sectional Championship game at Benedictine University after winning a regional title and the sectional semi-final.  In the regional at Westmont it took 2 days but the Eagles from Aurora Christian defeated host Westmont 10-0 to claim the championship.  Then two days later the Eagles took down Holy Trinity from Chicago 15-3 in the sectional matchup.

Against Westmont the Eagles had opened up a 10-0 lead on Saturday only to see the game suspended by weather in the 4th inning.  The two teams took Sunday off and on Monday evening Aurora Christian would finish the job.  Jake Kuntzendorf would strikeout 8 in 5 inning of work allowing just 2 hits.  MJ Stavola would have a big offensive game with a homer and 2 RBI’s.  Trey Madsen added a double and an RBI, with Isaac Skogerboe collecting 2 hits and driving in 2 runs as well.

In the sectional win over Holy Trinity would support the pitching of Hunter Thompson as they scored 15 runs on just 8 hits as they took advantage of 4 errors and several walks.  Stavola and Sam Tickel each tripled for the Eagles as Tickel drove in 3 runners, with Stavola driving in 2 more.  Kuntzendorf had a double and 2 RBI’S and Skogerboe drove in 2 more runs.  Madsen also had a nice day at the plate with 2 hits, 3 runs scored and a stolen base.

The Eagles were the Class 1A State Champions last spring and would love to follow that with a Class 2A Title.  They have to win four more games to make that a reality.  We will see what happens in the next couple of weeks.
