Leland High School is hosting a girls volleyball summer league for several area teams. Participating schools are Plano, Earlville, Somonauk, Serena, Woodland and of course host Leland. Three matches are played each week with one team playing a double-header and one team off each week.
Week one saw Woodland getting a great start with wins over Somonauk and Serena. Earlville also started with a win as they defeated rival Leland and Plano had the first week off. Week two had Plano opening up league play with a win over Somonauk. Earlville got by Woodland and Serena had a nice win over Leland.
Week three saw Woodland splitting a double-header as they defeated Leland and lost a close match to Plano. Earlville remained undefeated as they beat Serena. Week four had matches July 22 with Earlville defeating Plano to pick up win number four and move to 4-0 in league action. Somonauk split a double-header as they defeated Leland and dropped a match to Serena. Woodland was off and had a record of 3-2.
Other records going into to week five are Plano 2-1, Serena is 2-2 with Somonauk 1-3 and Leland is 0-4. Games for week five are Earlville and Somonauk playing at 5:00 pm, Plano is scheduled to play host Leland at 6:15 pm and the Serena vs Plano match is set for 7:30 pm.
