The Oswego Panthers are once again headed to the Class 8A IHSA Football Playoffs with their outstanding record of 8-1.  For the first time in a long time the Panthers are not heading to the playoffs as the Southwest Prairie Conference Champion.  Oswego lost to the Minooka Indians in Week 9 of the regular season 28-21.  That win put the Indians at 9-0 are they are the SPC (West) Champs.

The Panthers did have some close games during the regular season as they defeated Joliet West in Week 2 (23-14) and in Week 5 they edged by Plainfield North 14-13.  In Week 7 the Panthers got by their rival Oswego East 14-3 in a hard fought low scoring game.  The final two weeks of the regular season were both one score matchups as in Wee8 Oswego beat Yorkville 28-20 and as we mentioned 28-21 over Minooka.

Oswego will host the Elgin Maroons on Friday at 7:30pm at Ken Pickerill Stadium as Elgin won their Week 9 game in a 32-26 thriller over East Aurora.  The Maroons lost their first four games of the regular season, but they bounced back to win 5 straight games.

The Maroons and the Panthers will play at 7:30pm on Friday night at the “Pick.”  Head Coach Brian Cooney told us during the Pairings Night Show that his Panthers did not take dropping their regular season finale well.”  Good luck to the Panthers!!!
