The Plano Reapers boys basketball team won their first two games of the Colmone Classic Boys Basketball tournament at Hall to finish 2-0 in pool play. Plano beat Putnam County in their tourney opener 58-32 and host Hall 79-60 in their other pool play game. After that Plano lost two tough games 51-49 to Rock Falls and 76-67 in overtime to Fieldcrest.
Mason Accidentale had 18 points to lead Plano against Putnam County with Griffin Cross also scoring in double figures with 12. It was again Cross and Accidentale having strong games in the big win over Hall. Cross had a double-double with 25 points and 11 rebounds and Accidentale netting 22 points. Robbie Taylor also had a nice night against Hall with 14 points.
Cross was hot again against Rock Falls in the semi-finals as he hit for 22 points and again had a double-double as he added a team high 11 rebounds. Cedric Walton had 9 points but the Reapers lost a tough one late as Rock Falls outscored Plano 15-10 in the 4th quarter. The 3rd place game was tied at 61-61 after regulation. Unfortunately the Reapers had a tough time in the OT and finished 4th.
Accidentale, Cross and Taylor each had solid game scoring once again for Plano against Fieldcrest. Accidentale had 19 points, Cross 18 and Taylor was in double figures with 16. Plano is now 3-3 on the season and will play Newark on Wednesday on the road at 6pm.
