Plano defeated Westmont in baseball 2-1 as part of their series in the Interstate 8 on Tuesday night. Neither team was able to get much offense going in this one as Westmont had 5 hits and Plano just 4 hits in the game. Just a day earlier the teams combined for 22 runs on 19 hits in the Westmont 16-6 win.
Both teams went scoreless through the first 3 innings as starting pitchers Mike Bruell for the Plano Reapers and Caden Anderson for the Westmont Sentinels did not allow a single run. Plano was able to break through in the top of the 4th inning for their 2 runs. Dylan Jones drove in Cam Ward and Bryson Schmidt with a clutch single.
Westmont scored their run in the bottom of the 6th inning as Matt O’Leary scored to move Westmont within a run. Bruell was able to work out of any further for the Reapers. Bruell has thrown very well in several games this season. He allowed just the 5 hits mentioned above and he struck out 5 while walking just 2 for the complete game win.
Anderson worked the first 4 innings allowing just the 2 runs which were earned. Mason Accidentale, Eli Gonzalez, Schmidt and Jones were the Reapers who collected base hits last night. Gonzalez's hit was a double. Accidentale, Riley Stevenson, Wad and Ethan Cadena each drew a walk for Plano.
