The Sandwich Indians exploded for 16 runs on 12 hits and actually had a come from behind win over Lisle 16-1. The Lisle Lions had scored a single run in the 1st inning to take the early lead, but Sandwich had 5 runs in the 3rd and 10 in the 4th to win easily against one of their Interstate 8 Conference foes.
Before we go over the offensive stats let’s talk about a great pitching performance by the Indians Tim Gipe. Gipe gave up that solo run in the first on a groundout and allowed nothing after that. He struck out 5, walked just one Lion hitter and allowed just 3 hits in the game. He threw all 5 innings on the night.
Several Indians had big nights at the plate. Leadoff hitter Jackson Murphy went 3-4 on the night, scoring 3 runs and driving in 1 as well. Jaron Schiera was 2-3 and drove in 4 big runs while scoring once as well. Schiera and Jackson Murphy each doubled for the Indians. Wyatt Murphy and Gipe each drove in 2 runs while Austin Ford and Devin Carrera each had 2 hits.
