The Yorkville Foxes football team qualified for the IHSA Football Playoffs once again this season. Their 7-2 record was very impressive as their only two losses were to two state ranked teams Minooka who is 9-0 and Oswego who is 8-1. In Week 7 Minooka just got by the Foxes 19-10 and the very next Friday Oswego had to come from behind to beat Yorkville 28-20.
Among their 7 wins were victories over playoff teams Plainfield North who is 6-3, Oswego East who is 5-4 and Joliet West who finished 4-5. Joliet West was the Conference representative from the Southwest Prairie Conference (East) as they tied with Plainfield East and Plainfield South. All three of those teams made the playoffs.
Yorkville will host Thornton Fractional South from Lansing who went 6-3 during the regular season. The Rebels are from the South Suburban (Blue) Conference. The big win for the Rebels was a 40-32 win over conference rival Bremen from Midlothian, Their losses came were to Lemont, Thornton Fractional North and Hillcrest. Hillcrest enters the postseason at 8-1, while Lemont is 7-2.
The Foxes have scored 246 points on the season while holding their opponents to just 99. The Rebels scored 256 points during the regular season, while they gave up 187. The Foxes will host the Rebels at Campbell Field on Friday night in Yorkville. Good Luck Foxes.
