The 17th Seeded Yorkville girls basketball team continued their magical postseason run as the won the Lockport Class 4A Regional Title with a 45-40 overtime win on Friday night. The Lady Foxes from Yorkville defeated the 9th Seeded Oswego East girls to complete their sweep of their regional foes. Yorkville had defeated 15th seed host Lockport in double-overtime on Monday and top seed Minooka on Wednesday prior to the championship game.
Lexi Sandon had tied the game at the end of regulation as Sandon had to make two free throws to tie the game with no time on the clock. She did exactly that and for the game she was 13-14 at the line and had a game high 19 point performance. Olivia Ross chipped in with 11points continuing her strong postseason play. In the game Yorkville was an amazing 23-29 at the line while Oswego East was just 4-11 from the free throw line in the game.
Yorkville will now play Joliet Central in the semi-final of the Plainfield North Sectional at 6 p.m., Tuesday, February 19. Oswego who won their own regional will play Bolingbrook at 7:30pm on Tuesday as well. The Lady Foxes are now 13-20 on the season.
