Ten local celebrities will be chowing down hot dogs for their respective charities at the 11th annual Grundy Bank hot dog eating contest. The Hot Dog Eating Contest returns to Brown BagFriday this week. Grundy Bank President Kevin Olson explains how the contest will work.
Last year the event rose over $8,000 for local charities. The 2017 contestants are Jake Bulthius for Grundy Resource Organization, Jamie Rios for Illinois Valley Industries, Jason Helland representing Grundy 3 Rivers Habitat for Humanity, Ken Iverson for the Morris YMCA, Eric Fisher raising funds for We Care, David Valdivia eating for MCHS Soccer Boosters, Paul Nordstrom for the United Way, Dave Dykstra participating for Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Veronica Johnson for The Exhibit Fine Arts Center & Gallery, and WCSJ’s own Justin Ritz eating for Just for Animals Shelter. Donations will be accepted starting at 11:30 this Friday with the contest beginning at 12:30.
