The National Weather Service in Chicago is warning of a high fire risk across Northern Illinois on Saturday caused by dry conditions and high winds.
Areas south of Interstate-80 are especially at risk. Similar conditions earlier this week led to numerous field fires.
The National Weather service is asking people to postpone any planned burning, postpone any activity that could create sparks, be extremely careful with any open flames and the disposal of smoldering items, and to secure chains on vehicles that could drag on the ground and create sparks.
The high risk is expected to last through Saturday evening.
