The Sandwich Fair opening ceremony Wednesday morning featured honors for former Fair Association President Wiley Updike who passed away this year, longtime fair vendors, and live music from the Sandwich High School Marching Band.

Emcee Harold Dannewitz welcomed people back to the fair after year off due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The fair is in its 133rd year.

Among the longtime vendors honored during the opening ceremony was Bob Dempsey, who recently retired after years of running Fay's Barbecue, a Sandwich Fair staple. Dempsey says his family started at the fair in 1962.

The Sandwich Fair runs through Sunday and opens each day at eight in the morning.
