An Aurora man is being charged with attempted murder in an attack with a hammer.

Kane County Prosecutors allege that 22-year-old Johnathon T. McDonald, of Aurora, went to someone's home Saturday, hit the victim in the head with hammer, demanded money, and then strangled the victim. The victim lost consciousness several times.

Prosecutors say that McDonald is known by the victim. McDonald was booked into the Kane County Jail on Sunday. Bond was set a $250,000. He's due in Kane County Court on November 30.

McDonald is also charged with aggravated battery and unlawful restraint.

The Aurora Police Department handled the investigation.
