Chairman Scott Gryder announced at Tuesday's Kendall County Board meeting that Bombardier, a Canadian company, may be leasing part of the Caterpillar plant in Montgomery for construction of rail passenger cars for Metra.

Chairman Gryder spoke about the opportunity.

Gryder said that Bombardier is the kind of company that Kendall and Kane counties and the villages of Montgomery and Oswego have been looking for.

Gryder added that Metra should be awarding the bid before the end of the year. Metra's 2021 Budget, which was just released, shows $61.5 million for new rolling stock and $69.9 million for locomotive and car rehabilitation.

Chairman Gryder also told the Kendall County Board on Tuesday that a second company is planning to rent truck and recreational vehicle parking on the Route 31 side of the Caterpillar facility.
