The Kane County State's Attorney's Office says the man who has been wanted in the shooting and killing of 25-year-old Sharpie R. Smith-Tate of Elgin has been arrested. 26-year-old Shannon R. Smith, of Chicago, was arrested by Chicago Police during a traffic stop earlier this week.
The state's attorney's office alleges that in September of 2018 Shannon Smith fired a handgun multiple times during a fight in the parking lot of bar in the 500 block of South McLean Boulevard in Elgin. Sharpie Smith-Tate, Shannon Smith's sister, was shot and killed. A few days after the shooting back in 2018, a warrant was issued for Smith's arrest. His bond is set at $3-million. Smith was being held in the Cook County Jail.
