A Chicago man is being charged in a Cook County crash with an Illinois State Police Trooper Saturday night on I-94 near 59th Street. Police say 33-year-old Alcantar A. Castellanos is charged with violation of Scott's law, driving under the influence, illegal transportation of alcohol, and improper lane usage.
Police say the trooper was out of their squad car to assist with a crash when the left driver's side mirror of Castellanos' vehicle hit the shoulder and upper arm of the trooper. The trooper was taken to an area hospital for treatment was later released.
State Police are reminding people to move over or slow down for stopped vehicles and emergency personnel. 17 Illinois State Police Squad cars have been hit this year and ten troopers have been injured in Scott's Law related crashed.
