Republican Sixteenth District Congressman Adam Kinzinger says that Governor J.B. Pritzker's administration failed to protect the vulnerable residents living at the LaSalle Veterans home from a COVID-19 outbreak that killed 36 and sickened many more. Kinzinger's comments come after an inspector general's report pointed to failures at the home and among Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs leadership.

Kinzinger says despite the severity of the outbreak, there seemed to be no urgency from the Illinois Department of Public Health to get resources to the home and contain the outbreak. Kinzinger accused Pritzker's office of a dereliction of duty to the veterans in the home.

Kinzinger thanked State Senator Sue Rezin and other state lawmakers for their commitment to bringing the outbreak, and circumstances surrounding it, to light.
