The DeKalb County Government has been hit by a ransomware attack. A statement from DeKalb County officials says the the attack happened Monday. As a result, the county's servers are inaccessible, limiting functionality throughout county operations.

The county says that it doesn't appear that county files have been compromised. The county's Information Management Office is working to restore the servers using backup data. County email is still down as a result of the hack.

County Board Chairman John Frieders says he appreciates the public's patience while staff work to restore the county's system.
