Fire Truck

Fire officials are asking everyone to take care when it comes to cooking the big Thanksgiving meal on Thursday.

Little Rock-Fox Fire Protection District Fire Chief Greg Witek says to be extra careful if you're planning on making your turkey using an outdoor grill or fryer. It's important to keep some distance away from anything that can burn.

People should also have a fire extinguisher handy and know how to use it.

Witek says people should think ahead about what can go wrong when it comes to various cooking methods.

If something does go wrong and there is a fire, Witek says not to hesitate in calling 9-1-1.

People should also avoid crowding around a lit stove and no candles should be left unattended. It's not a bad idea to check your smoke alarms and make sure they have fresh batteries.
