Illinois is the latest state to use a lottery to encourage residents to get vaccinated against COVID-19. The 'All in for the Win' promotion includes $7 million in cash prizes and another $3 million in scholarships to be awarded to vaccinated youth. Anyone who has received at least one vaccine dose will be entered into the lottery automatically. People have until July 1 to get vaccinated and be entered to win. The first drawing will be on July 8. There are 43 cash prizes including three $1 million jackpots and twenty scholarship awards.
Over 70 percent of adults in Illinois have received at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose, but health officials want that number to be even higher.
