A Joliet man facing three felony charges in Grundy County was arrested over the weekend. Martin Marling was indicted by a Grundy County grand jury on the charge of Traveling To Meet a Child, a class three felony and two counts of Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding Police, both class four felonies.
The Morris Police Department says the 37-year-old Marling is accused of using an online service to entice a child under the age of 13 to meet him on Quail Drive in Morris on December 30th of 2020.
Police officials say the child was actually a man who runs an organization where people pose as underage children on online services in order to catch adults attempting to have sexual relationships with minors.
The Morris Police Department said they were called to the meet-up location and Marling then fled in his vehicle. Marling fled on Dresden Drive, Park Boulevard, onto Route 6 and then on Interstate 80 where the pursuit was terminated.
Marling was arrested by the Joliet Police Department after an incident in the 1900 block of Black Road on Saturday, October 9th. He remains in the Will County Jail.
