The Kane County Sheriff's Office is investigating a chase that led to a crash involving a squad car in St. Charles Friday morning. No injuries were reported and police say they have a lead on a suspect who fled the area on foot.

The crash happened at around 6:30.

The sheriff's office says a lieutenant had tried to pull over a Ford Escape for traffic violations on Randall Road. The Ford did not stop and turned eastbound on Dean Street from Randall Road. The suspect vehicle lost control where Dean turns into North 9th Street and hit two unoccupied, parked vehicles. One of the parked vehicles ended up in the road and was hit by the squad car which could not avoid the crash.

The suspect in the Ford fled on foot. Police formed a perimeter and tried to use a drone to find the suspect, but were unable locate them.

Police say there are no safety concerns for the public. Anyone with information is asked to contact the sheriff's office at 630-444-1103.
