The Kendall County Health Department is now offering COVID-19 booster shots to anyone age 18 and older in alignment with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Illinois Department of Public Health Guidelines.

The health department still says those fifty and older should be the highest priority for receiving booster shots. The thought is to increase immunity that is thought to decline over time. After the initial series of shots, people can mix and match vaccines.

People who received the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine should wait six months before getting a booster shot. Those who received the Johnson & Johnson one shot vaccine should get a booster shot after two months.

The CDC has also released guidance for those who received non-FDA authorized vaccine on the World Health Organization's Emergency Use Listing.

Kendall County Health Department vaccine clinics are on Thursdays and Fridays at 811 W. John Street in Yorkville. There will be no clinic this week due to the Thanksgiving Holiday.
