The Kendall County Health Department recently held a mental health first aid training and possibly will be holding more in the future. May is Mental Health Month.
Health Department Clinician Kathryn Catenacci says to follow ALGEE for mental health first aid. ALGEE stands for, approach and assess, listen nonjudgmentally, give reassurance and information, encourage professional help and encourage self-help.
The health department had people from all over participate in the recent mental health first aid training, which was done online.
Catenacci says the health department has many mental health services available that people can find out about by calling.
