The Kendall County Sheriff's Office is recognizing National Police Week. The week is ahead of National Peace Officers Memorial Day on May 15th. The week pays special recognition to those officers who died in the line of duty and those who continue to protect their communities.

Sheriff Dwight Baird says he has the utmost respect for the men and women of the Kendall County Sheriff's Office and law enforcement across the country. He says it's important to honor the people who have made the safety of others their profession and to honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their community.

A news release from the sheriff's office says residents can show their support for law enforcement by displaying blue lights and or displaying a blue ribbon outside their home during police week.
