The Kendall County Sheriff's Office is reminding people to lock their parked vehicles.
The reminder comes as the sheriff's office has had a rash of reports of burglaries from vehicles in the past few days in Kendall County subdivisions. There were seven on Monday. Many of the burglaries happened to unlocked vehicles, according to police.
Police also recommend not leaving keys in parked vehicles, parking in well-lit areas, completely closing windows, keeping valuables hidden, and to take garage door openers inside.
Police say that burglaries from vehicles are often crimes of opportunity and that the risk can be mitigated by taking a few simple steps.
