Unemployment rate climbs to 4% as 304K jobs added in January

The unemployment rate in Kendall County for October is down from last year according to the Illinois Department of Employment Security. The rate this October was at 3.4 percent which is down from 3.6 percent the previous year. The unemployment rate in September was 3.5 percent.

The drop in the unemployment rate year to year is bigger in the whole region which includes Kendall, Cook, DuPage, Grundy, McHenry, and Will counties. The October rate this year was at 4.4 percent. The rate last year was at 5.1 percent.

The region added 142,800 jobs over the year.

DeKalb County's October unemployment rate this year was at 4.1 percent. Last year it was at 4.4 percent.
