Channahon Congressman Adam Kinzinger is one of nine Republicans who voted to hold former White House advisor Steve Bannon in contempt of Congress after he is accused of not cooperating with a subpoena. A commission on the January 6th attack on the Capitol Building wants to question Bannon about his alleged role in the events of that day. Congressman Kinzinger, who is on the January 6 commission, spoke on the House Floor on Thursday.

Kinzinger argues that Bannon's refusal shows disregard for the will of the American people.

Bannon has said that he was requested by former President Trump not answer questions on the grounds of executive privilege which protects advise given to presidents by their advisors.

The approved House resolution will now go the Department of Justice for possible criminal prosecution.

Local Democratic Representatives Lauren Underwood and Bill Foster also voted in favor of the resolution.
