The Kane County Health Department says more whole, fresh onions are being recalled over potential salmonella contamination.
The Federal Food and Drug Administration is recalling three and five pound bags of whole yellow onions sold as Green Giant Fresh and two pound bags of whole white onions shipped between July 15 and August 22.
Also being recalled are Alsum Farms & Produce whole fresh yellow, white, and red onions delivered to stores in Illinois between July 13 and August 18. The onions were sourced from Keeler Family Farms. Only onions labeled "Produce of Mexico" are affected.
If people have the onions from either brand they should be tossed out.
There haven't been any reported sicknesses with the recent recalls. An October outbreak of salmonella linked to onions sickened 48 people in Illinois.
