Hide-A-Way Lakes Campground at 8045 Van Emmon Rd. east of Yorkville was sold on December 18, 2020 to Lance Beatch of Bull Valley, Ill.
The closing price was $2,590,000.
Beatch said on Monday that he is in the process of completing numerous upgrades to the campground, which sits on the east side of the Fox River.
Thomas Tanner was the previous owner of Hide-a-Way Lakes, and he had been under scrutiny by Kendall County for numerous violations, including sewer/drainage issues, permanent residents living full-time at the campground, and for an unsafe bridge.
New owner Beatch says that he has been involved in the acquisition of 169 RV of mobile home parks while working for Equity Lifestyle Properties, which is run by former Chicago Tribune owner Sam Zell.
Beatch says that he bought Hide-a-Way Lakes on his own.
The new name for the campground is Fox Bluff Vacation Cottage and RV Resort. Its web site says the property is undergobeing renovation and landscaping. It also says that visitors will be restricted to four-month stays.
The campground is located at 8045 Van Emmon Road. It has been a topic of scrutiny for local officials who have cited many police and fire calls to the property.
