The Yorkville City Council on Tuesday approved the appointment of Craig A. Soling to the city council. Soling is filling the Ward Two seat left vacant by the retirement of Jackie Milschewski in September.

Soling was selected by Mayor John Purcell from a pool of applicants. Soling works for the Fox Metro Water Reclamation District and has been there for 21 years in multiple roles.

Soling says he wants to see more development in Yorkville.

Soling thinks the biggest challenge for Yorkville will be bridging the gap between people who want Yorkville to stay the same and people who want to see Yorkville grow.

Soling has lived in Yorkville for around twenty years. He's been involved with local scout organizations and has held elected positions within his union. Soling says he's happy for the chance to further serve the community. He's says he'll work hard and be available to answer questions from residents about city business.

Soling is married and has three children. Soling will serve the remainder of the term which wraps up in April of 2023 at which point he'll have to run and be elected for the position if wants to keep it.
