The Newark Village Board is moving forward with the water filter project at the village's main well. Engineering Enterprises Inc's (EEI) John Whitehouse presented the board with the timeline beginning with the bid advertisement and continuing through the project completion. He noted a six month gap between ordering of parts and receipt of parts as the reason for the lengthy time. The cost estimates accompanied the timeline. The village has designated funds from the American Rescue Plan for this project.

In other business, the board discussed ongoing problems with ditch restructuring on Center Street. EEI checked the reworked ditches and reports a four inch change is still needed. In addition, one culvert on the south end is clogged. Gary Clausen will compare prices for a blowout or a replacement and proceed with the most cost effective plan.

In new business, the board reviewed and approved the 2020 audit report. They also approved the purchase of cell phones for their employees.

Dates coming up include Trick-or-Treat on October 31 from four to seven p.m. and Winter Fest has been scheduled for December 4 from five to seven p.m.

The Newark Village Board meets again November 10.
