The board president of Parkview Christian Academy in Yorkville is announcing his run for State Representative of the 75th Illinois District.

Jed Davis, of Newark, hopes to win the Republican nomination to run for the seat in the Illinois House. He'll face incumbent Republican State Rep. David Welter, of Morris, in the June Primary.

Davis announced his run in Yorkville to a crowd of over 100 on Sunday.

Davis says his three priorities are family, finances, and freedom. Davis says that families ought to have more control over what their kids are learning in school and in health decisions.

Davis says he'll do his best to be accessible to residents in the district.

Davis is willing to work with Democrats to get things done, but says he won't abandon his values in backroom dealings.

Also speaking Sunday night was State Senator and Republican gubernatorial candidate Darren Bailey who offered his support for Davis.

Davis graduated from Newark High School and works in sales. He lives in Newark with his wife and four children.

Davis is involved in a lawsuit against the Illinois State Board of Education over its revocation of Parkview Christian Academy's state recognition. The school had decided not enforce Governor J.B. Pritzker's mask mandate for schools.
