A man from Warrenville was critically injured when the motorized glider he was piloting crashed Saturday morning at Cushing Field on Route 71 west of Newark.
The 63 year-old man has not been identified.
The Newark Fire Department and LaSalle County deputies responded to the scene around 9:40 a.m. Saturday.
According to the Newark Fire Department, the 63 year-old Warrenville man was trapped in the motorized glider and had to be extricated.
The man was airlifted from the scene to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.
Federal Aviation Administration records show that the plane belongs to a 63-year-old man who lives in Williamsburg, Virginia.
The Little Rock-Fox Fire Department also responded to the scene to assist.
