Sandwich Mayor Rich Robinson's term is expiring after losing reelection in April's Consolidated Election.
Mayor Robinson pointed to getting funding for the city's renovation of the new police department on 6th Street as one accomplishment while he was mayor. He also points to the switch from a city dispatch center to using DeKalb County's dispatch as a move that will save the city money.
Robinson will stay on the city council as a Ward One Alderman, a post he kept during his tenure as mayor. Robinson says flooding on the north side town will be something for the city to continue to work on.
Robinson says he's happy to be back on the city council as an alderman. He says Mayor Elect Todd Latham is bringing good ideas to the table.
Robinson was appointed as mayor by the city council 2019 following the resignation of former Mayor Rick Olson. Robinson says he's not planning on running for mayor again. He's been on the city council for eighteen years.
The new mayor and at least one new city council member are set to be sworn in next week at the city council's next regular meeting.
