The Sandwich City Council on Monday at a special budget meeting heard from City Engineer and Public Works Director Tom Horak about some possible uses of $900,000 in stimulus money coming from the recently passed American Rescue Plan. Mayor Rich Robinson wanted to know if there is engineering that could be done to get some projects shovel ready and eligible for grants or low-interest loans. Horak says there are some projects to consider.
There is some uncertainty on just what types of projects the stimulus money can be spent on. The city also has sanitary sewer lines to fix and will be needing to upgrade its water treatment plant within the next few years.
