Kendall County State's Attorney Eric Weis says he's getting a lot of questions from local officials about Open Meetings Act and Freedom of Information Act training that's supposed to be available online. Newly elected local officials are supposed to complete the training within a short time after being elected.
The training site, which is normally available on the Illinois Attorney General's web site, is still not not available. A message on the Attorney General's web site says that the training is inaccessible and there is no set competition date for repairs. The site also notes that public officials are not penalized for failure to complete the training in a timely manner.
Weis says he'll continue to monitor the site and that he's pleased that public officials are concerned about completing the training. People can watch the Kendall County State's Attorney's Office's social media page for updates on the training web site.
