Three new Yorkville Police Department patrol officers were sworn in by Yorkville Mayor John Purcell last month. Officers Cali Caruso, Anthony Nickels, and Mariesa Shapiama all graduated from the Police Training institute in April. They took the oath at the May 25 Yorkville City Council meeting.

One of the new officers, Mariesa Shapiama, might be a familiar face around Yorkville according to Assistant Chief Ray Mikolasek. Shapiama served for two years as a community service officer with the Yorkville Police Department.

The three officers will now begin a seventeen-week training program with the Yorkville Police Department.
