Unemployment rate climbs to 4% as 304K jobs added in January

Unemployment was down in Kendall County from July to August. The Illinois Department of Employment Security released data Thursday showing that the unemployment rate in Kendall County in August was at 5.5 percent. That's down from the July rate 5.9 percent.

The Chicago-Naperville-Arlington Heights Metro Division, which includes Kendall, Will, and Grundy counties among others, had an August unemployment rate of 7.5 percent and a July rate of 8 percent. The unemployment rate for the region was at 13 percent in August of last year.

In DeKalb County, the unemployment rate was at 5.9 percent in August and 5.6 percent in July. Kane County's unemployment rate was also up in August at 6.1 percent. It was at 5.6 percent in July.
