Valley West Hospital manager of patient care Ashley Brown is the recipient of the Patriotic Employer Award. The award is presented by the Secretary of Defense and recognizes employers who support the National Guard and the Reserve Force.

Brown was nominated by staff nurse Ronald McCaslin who is also a member of the National Guard. Brown was presented with the award earlier this month.

In his nomination letter, McCaslin says that Brown is 100 percent committed to supporting the military and its service members and regularly checked in with him and ensured that he and his family were taken care of despite him missing several days on orders. McCaslin also said that Brown is accommodating with his schedule.

Director of Patient Care Beth Mosher says Valley West is committed to being flexible with scheduling to accommodate employees who are also service members.
