The Waubonsee Community College Board of Trustees has approved a tuition increase that will be effective for the fall 2023 semester.
A news release from the college says that the rate per credit hour is increasing from $132 to $135 which amounts to a 2.27 percent increase. The student fee is staying at $8 making the total for in-district students $143 per credit hour.
The colleges says it's the first rate hike in three years and notes that the total rate is still below the average of $153 across all of Illinois' community colleges. Four-year institutions usually cost about $400 per credit hour, according to the college.
