The Yorkville Police Department introduced a new intern to the Yorkville City Council last week. Nathan Miller, of Oswego, is currently studying at Illinois State University. The internship with the police department is a weeks long program where the intern learns hands-on about many aspects of law enforcement. Deputy Yorkville Chief of Police Ray Mikolasek made the introduction to the mayor and city council.

Mikolasek says the police department values its interns.

Miller is the second intern to join the department this summer. Back in May, the police department introduced intern Kendall Watkins who is also attending Illinois State University.

Chief of Police Jim Jensen has said that the internship program can work as a recruiting tool for the department. In June, three new Yorkville Police Officers were sworn in in front of the city council.
