Yorkville City Administrator Bart Olson on Tuesday presented a proposed budget for the fiscal year that starts in May to the Yorkville City Council.

The budget's general fund, which is the city's main operating fund is balanced at around $23 million in revenue and expenditures.

Olson told the city council that there is a healthy amount in the city's cash balances.

The city plans a five year budget, but only approves spending for the next fiscal year.

The city is proposing to spend less in its general fund than the current fiscal year which is around $24 million.

Of note is $2.6 million in spending for the Lake Michigan water project which will jump up to around $100 million in the next few fiscal years.

The city council needs to approve a budge before May.
